Carterknowle Juniors – Pyramid Slingshots
We visited Carterknowle Junior school in November, taking a female STEM volunteer from the Sheffield Hallam University Mechanical Engineering course to work with their Y5’s, informing them what WEST does and why STEM is an important, fun and interesting subject and a possible career choice for everyone.
We built pyramid slingshots with them, with the class working in pairs. By the end of the hour long session, we had 15 working slingshots. There were a lot of very happy 9 and 10 year olds, pinging pom poms across the school hall.
