“This year the standard of applications was high, and we’d like to thank everyone who applied.
We believe there is a real need for better funding to support girls and women entering these male-dominated subjects and careers.
To decide who to give bursaries to, we followed our priorities as set out in the eligibility criteria. Because we had a number of good applications, we decided to spread the bursary money to the best applications and prioritise those studying for pre-degree qualifications in manual trades and/or on low income.
A small number who applied were ineligible – either because they were out of the geographical area, or not studying for a non-traditional area of science.
We wish success in their studies to those who were unsuccessful this year and encourage them to apply again next year!
We hope to explore the potential of raising more funds for our bursaries, and welcome offers of sponsorship or donations.”
